Be careful not to deify one partner, while demonizing the other. It takes two to make another.

The night at the residence gave my brother and I some time to catch up. Afterall we hadn't seen each other since he was in Hillydale 25 or so years previous. If it weren't for that visit back then, this trip may not have been needed. The more things change, the more they stay the same apparently. He hasn't changed all that much, his mission in life still seems to be that he doesn't really have a mission in life. He still just prefers to wander the land, and spread his love around to any willing and able bar wench. But he's still my brother and it's good to see him again.
I managed to get him to accompany me on my quest. He thought it would be good to be together again, just like old times when we travelled together, before I settled down. He never knew why I chose to settle down at that point. He wouldn't understand. Of course I didn't tell him who we were searching for. I just told him that a woman was brutally murdered, and that there are some clues in the Dragonreach Mountains that we should look into. Besides, I figured I should tell Llan about his mother before I revealed it to Jackle. It's best that people who cared about her knew first.
We planned to head out the later that day, because Jackle had some pressing business he had to take care of. This was okay with me, because it would give me time to convince Llan to come as well. It would also let me think about when/how to tell Llan about his mother. As Jackle was leaving I heard him conversing with a female in the other room. Probably just one of his exploits from the twon here to have a few words with him. He probably didn't figure on being in town this long and now he's been caught. I don't know what it is he says to these people but they get duped everytime. One of these days it's going to come back to bite him hard. I was wrong, turns out the other voice was not of one of his exploits, but of a wizardess. Although judging by her looks, I'll bet Jackle would've have wanted her to be an exploit. Her name is Azrael. We talked for a while about the arcane arts. She's on a mission from her mentor to travel the world and gain knowledge. She's agreed to accompany us on our journey. Despite my brother's ignorance, it's always good to have a couple arcane casters. Especially since I'm not completely devoted to only the arcane arts. I tend to also focus on some not so legal arts as well. We decided to go get Llan, and so we headed off to the Temple of Heironeous where Llan had spent the night. As we entered the temple we ran into the crazy guy from the other night. This time I felt sorry for him, because now I knew the cause of his crazyness, and could relate. Apparently upon entering NewKeep, Jackle ran into this poor man and asked him about rumors of Elves dancing naked with trees. My brother reacted, shall we say, poorly, to this stereotype. He picked the man up, threatened his life, and forced him to tell everyone he sees that elves do not in fact dance naked with trees. Poor fellow, if not for the fact that we were blood, Jackle would drive me crazy some times. Inside the Temple, Llan could not be found. We did run into a monk who went by the name of Thelonious the Blue. He was a monk of St. Cuthbert whose temple was destroyed by Nobles, who were upset that St. Cuthbert's followers were trying to even things out between the Nobles and the peasants in that land. Thelonius had since travelled the land looking for new followers, and had ended up here. Llan and Thelonius had met the night previous. Thelonius had agreed to accompany Llan on his journeys. He told us that Llan was not here at the moment as he had some pressing business to attend to. He also told us something else that amused me a bit. Apparently Llan was some inspired by Krym, that he had decided to forego his bardic training and dedicate his life to becoming a paladin of Heironeous. This was amusing to me because not only was Llan Jackle's offspring, but Jackle had very little tolerance for the Bardic profession. Now not only was Llan a Bard, but he was going to become a Paladin, a profession which Jackle finds just barely above Bards. It's good to see that Llan got some of his mother's view of the arts, and spirituality. I know she'd be very proud of his choices. But then again of course she'd rub off on him, after all it's not like Jackle was ever there to influence him. No he just did his business and left. After a few hours Llan and Jackle approached. There was something different between them. Jackle had apparently told Llan about the woman in the mountains and got him to agree to come with. I knew I'd need a better time to tell Llan about his mother. We finished introducing everyone and decided to head out towards the Dragonreach Moutains. Trackbacks
