Okay, taking us back to the discussion we had on the fourth, who remembers me pointing out that Lupin was made prefect in the hopes of keeping James and Sirius in line? Right?
BUT! Didn't Hagrid tell Harry in PoA that James and Lily had been Head Boy and Head Girl in their time? And they were such a good match? Assuming that Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs were *all* from Gryffindor, then Remus was made prefect, which means that James *wasn't*, which means that there's no way he could have been made Head Boy. Someone sort me out. I'm having projected character identity crisis. Trackbacks

In the fifth year James was a jerk, but in seventh year he changed, turned into a decent person, Lily fell in love with him, and he was made into Head Boy, although it *is* a little unconventional, because most HBs are made from prefects. But James turned into a leader, a good guy, and was the best candidate for HB.

I'd have to agree with something along these lines. I don't recall ever being told that a Head Boy HAD to be a prefect.

but don't you think it's sort of a big dissapointment to all those prefect candidates who just don't get a chance because, oh, the bad boy of the school decided to shape up?

Look at it from the other point of view: if you could only reach "Head Boy" via the route of Prefect, what reason would the non-Prefect students have for shaping up? They already know they can't attain any position, so the incentive offering of the title of "Head Boy" is now only an incentive for those who are already good.

Nah, but I bet Hermione gets Head Girl. I bet Head Boy is gonna be someone like Malfoy.

Well, I think:
1) Neville is going to die, destroying Valdemort; 2) Harry will be Head Boy; 3) Ginny will find that she's always loved either Crabbe or Goyle, not sure which, and the next generation of Weasleys they beget will all be Hufflepuffs. Well, ok, maybe that last one was a joke... |
