I'm kind of ashamed that Mormons think it's okay to post hateful things on the internet in the name of "defending" their religion and attacking another's.
Monday, April 7. 2008Yeah, I hate Mitt too... ???
I was listening to the Nightside Project on Friday night when they started talking about a website where you could go and encourage John McCain to not make Mitt Romney his running mate.
This website is hilarious!!! Up until today, you could go in and sign up and encourage Senator McCain to avoid Mitt Romney. They were then posting all of the comments from those who had written something to the Senator. Well the vast majority (no numbers were actually counted, though as I perused them very few were anti-Mitt) of comments were people saying that they would only vote for McCain if Romney was on the ticket, or other such things like that. It was hilarious. The Nightside Project then decided to take it one step further: sabotage the data and have fun doing it (click on the Nightside link above to be able to hear that part of the segment). Apparently the comments were so bad that the site administrators decided to completely close off the comments section. And I quote: Because of insensitive and offensive posts public viewing of comments has been blocked. Click here for a complete explanation. Note: If you support Romney you should not be signing a petition against him in order to make pro-Romney statements. That is flat out dishonest. Classic Politics: If your smear campaign backfires, just blame the guy you were smearing! Trackbacks

Radar on :
Who said it was Mormon's who posted those things? Mitt was liked by more than just Mormons.
Also, as I read through the comments that had been posted, I saw nothing that was hurtful towards anyones beliefs. All I saw were people saying "I like Mitt". I don't doubt that people said some hurtful things towards others on that site. I just didn't see any of what they claim was written. As one of my favorite shows would say: "Don't accept the premise of the question." Or in this case, accusation. The Mad Giggler on :
From the site:
"Individuals used this opportunity to post hateful and bigoted anti-evangelical messages at the site that I cannot reprint here. At one point a volunteer had to work full time to cull out those messages that were too offensive to leave up. We blocked the server at BYU in Utah and the number of offensive messages declined." Also, just looking at the names people have posted under, I saw "This is crap", "This site example of Anti-Mormon Bigotry", "It's just because he's a Mormon", "huckabee is afaggot", " Youguys R. Idiots" as well as some I don't care to copy here due to profanity, I'd say people went far beyond "supporting" Romney. Radar on :
Allow me to state once again - perhaps those comments were put on the site, but I did not see any of those comments when I looked through the site.
I am not inclined to believe a website whose purpose was to smear another person's reputation. Perhaps the comments were taken down because they didn't back up the claims of the site creators. The Mad Giggler on :
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on the quality of comments people were posting. I'm very inclined to believe the site owner because I can see the "names" people are still posting under. They're there for you to see for yourself.
I haven't listened to the Nightside Project broadcast, but you said they encouraged people to "sabotage the data and have fun doing it" which doesn't seem very Christian to me. People are entitled to disagree with Romney's stance on political issues. Radar on :
Actually, I agree to agree with you on these points: it isn't very christian to sabotage data on a site, and people are very entitled to disagree with Mitt Romney.
This site has seen a lot more traffic to it since I was able to view the comments on friday night. When I viewed it on friday the comments were not negative that I could see. The Mad Giggler on :
No, really. I wanted to agree to disagree with someone today.

I hate you and I want you to die. I'm going to stab you in your sleep.
Agree with me gosh darn it!!!! Daboo on :
Is it just my imagination, or is Radar sounding eerily like me?
Ancient of Days on :
There's nothing eerie about emulation of an exemplar.
Radar on :
We should compare notes Daboo.
The Mad Giggler on :
I think we can agree to a mutual animosity in which strategic plans are laid to terminate the existence of the other.
