Our latest round of Star Trek the Next Generation podcast gave us something new as well as some "sucks to be you" news. When Joey tried to save the audio file for Drumhead something went wrong with his computer (again) and it did not save. So we had to re-record our discussion of Drumhead. Luckily our special guest for this podcast, Pete's friend Jon Madsen, was willing to redo that entire discussion. Now you might say "aw sucks to be you" but because of that we were forced to try something new: phoning it in. So we got Pete's Friend Jon Madsen on the phone and we redid it. Everything sounded ok, so let's hope you don't find it annoying. If you aren't too angry about the sound, then this may be a way that we can get some out of town guests on to the podcast. This podcast covers episodes 21-24 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 4.

Pete states that "[police] can do anything they want to entrap us". While it is true that the police can lie to us, there *are* limits to what they can do. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entrapment for more information.

I thought about making that point on the podcast, but the conversation had already gone on longer than I had intended. As I understand it, it's considered 'entrapment' if law enforcement actually somehow encouraged you to COMMIT THE CRIME. If the crime has already been committed before the police get involved, you have no recourse to entrapment.

I think it's funny that these pod casts keep destroying computers... how apropo.
And yes cops can do WHATEVER they want. I have this argument all the time with friends that are typically independent. If a cop wants to arrest you he can. I always here the argument "but they can't do that" oh you better believe they can. You may take it to court and you may or may not win, but they can arrest/beat you at anytime. |
