Podcast 18: TW5 - Finally of legal age

Well we finally turned 18 and have had our curfew removed. And what a better time to have it happen than the end of Season 3. We have a lot of new things happening in this podcast. Including: our first simul-podcast with Jon and JR (we basically called them up right after they watched the new Star Trek Movie); and sound clips of our favorite moments from Season 3.

for the most part, i don't really enjoy the evolution the borg took over the course of the series. i would've loved that they stuck with a strict 'hive mind' concept that seems to have been taken away with that whole borg queen stuff that came along later. on the bright side, the actual naming of locutus is actually less of an act of imposing individuality to a drone than it would seem. the name locutus is actually taken from a couple of latin roots which mean (if i remember from our 8th grade english latin roots section -- which corresponded with this episode) something like "compelled to speak." so locutus is more of a designation for the picard drone during the earth attack rather than an individualistic name.

I'm in agreement with jon. The more the Borg evolved, the Less cool they were in my mind as an enemy.

They started to humanize the borg even more later in the series and later series of Trek Lore, by making them look less and less like machines.
