The Mad Giggler on :
Just to clarify, the four Lakers jerseys on the right have the names of three referees and the NBA Commissioner on them.
Radar on :
Not being a fan of this silly sport I did not notice that. Thanks for pointing it out.
Ancient of Days on :
I'm just glad I wasn't the only one who missed the joke. I asked my wife to look at it, and neither of us could figure it out.
Swatson on :
I do think the champion of the NBA has already been decided this year by the refs and Commissioner. Unfortunately, it's not the Jazz.
Sideshow on :
As A Laker fan I must object to this offensive post....
.... Radmanovich is no longer a Laker. Swatson on :
Well I'm glad as a Laker fan you at least agree that the referees are on your team.
Sideshow on :
Actually, I don't think that. I think the NBA has a horrific officiating system, that suffers from a star system.
I also think that officiating is a crutch that is used way to often in this area for a variety of sports. Swatson on :
I agree with you totally on the star system. I'd be curious to discuss with you more sometime on the crutch idea of officiating. I used to watch tennis when younger with John McEnroe, and I think there was some crutch officiating...if I'm understanding your definition of crutch here.
By crutch, I'm assuming you mean, that when a person/team loses a game/match, they blame the officiating instead of their talent/effort/preparedness? If this is what you mean, I think I can agree that this happens sometimes. Sideshow on :
I'd be up for a discussion anytime.
That's partially what I meant. And that part of the crutch is way prevalent throughout the NBA *cough*Kobe*cough*TD*cough*Paul Pierce*cough*LBJ*cough*. The other part of the crutch that I was referring to leans more towards the fans side of thing. Where fans never believe there team ever does wrong. If they lose a game, it's not because they were outplayed, it's because the refs screwed them. Or if their team is called for a foul it's always a bogus call. |
