History of the Homestarmy

Or Something Like That

late 2003, early 2004:   The Homestarmy was first and foremost a creation of the Brothers Chaps. In one of their famous Strong Bad emails, Homestar forms an army to combat the might of StrongBadia. You can watch it here.

January 2004:   Some time after this, Andy, Curtis, Carl, and Dan moved into a new place together. Andy and Curtis thought they should give this new home a name to lend it character and style. The thought was that a good party house always has a name. After some consideration, it was decided that a party should be thrown and that guests should give suggestions for the name. None of these kind suggestions had what the four bachelors were looking for.

February - June 2004:   Then genious struck, and Curtis and Andy knew that "The Homestarmy" had been the name all along. It wasn't long before a domain name was registered and party announcements were posted. Soon pictures of the ferocious Nokie were posted as well as the results from the Beard Growing activity. None of this really seemed to drive the proper amount of traffic that such a fine website needed.

July 2004:   "Articles!", the cry went up. "We need to post articles! That will encourage people to visit our site and learn of our most excellent parties." So, Andy and Curtis embarked on a quest to provide entertaining and witty columns on a regular basis. Then fate stepped in.

August 2004 - June 2005:   Andy was married 5 August 2004 to Milisa. Dave moved in during this time, but it wouldn't be long before he met Sarah. Dave was married at the tail end of December 2004. Curtis started chatting with Anne about the same time he started posting articles, and they went on their first date 2 September 2004 (easily remembered due to the fact that the Utah football team went undefeated for the 2004 season starting that day). Curtis will marry Anne 11 June 2005. Carl met Alene and Dan met Jessica on about the same timeline. Carl will be married to Alene on 25 June 2005. Dan, having fallen off the face of the earth, has told no one of his projected marriage date. He did manage to send off one last message saying he was engaged.

And thus, five bachelors went from the care-free single life to the *ahem* bliss of coupledom. Thus we say, "Rest in Peace Homestarmy. 'Twas a valiant effort, but all your soldiers have gone down."
