Do you think that Harriet is responsible for the series over-expanding later on?
Tuesday, March 5. 2013The Eye of the World - Summary
I hate our blog. Twice now it has eaten posts > 2k words on this topic. I'm not doing it again - not tonight. I like book one; I wish Harriet hadn't edited the series; I wish James Rigney and Peter Jackson had known each other. Fin.

I don't even think we have to wait until later - as the editor, Harriet had a responsibility to rein him in. Many of the things that people complain about - repetitive actions by characters (women crossing their arms and sniffing, tugging on their braids, the boys' internal dialog commenting on how they "wish they understood women like ", ...); the tendency to wander away from the main threads of the story; the cookie-cutter descriptions of incidental characters; these are things that an editor is paid to prevent.
I think she loved her husband more than she loved her job (which is a fine thing), but she should have realized that and subsequently recused herself from editing this series. Radar on :
Have you considered writing your text in a text file and then pasting it in to the blog? That's how I usually write all my stuff.
