I just want to say that I care, even though I don't want to buy all new books or roll a new character yet.
Saturday, September 6. 2008September a Huge Month for 4e
I get that most of you aren't interested in what's going on in the 4e rules, but for the one or two who *are*: September's a pretty big month, given that we finally get the player's version of all the juicy details of what's going on in the new "Official Campaign Setting": Faerun. So many questions[1], so few rulebooks...but here's a taste of what's coming from Wizards nee WotC nee TSR.
[1] What's the Spellplauge? What happened to Luskan? Which of our favorite haunts got the axe besides Luskan? Are "good drow" really moving across the surface of Fearun en masse? If so, who is their so-called "hope", if not Drizzt? Is Thay really gone forever? Have the entire Gnome Pantheon (along with their tiny followers) REALLY been wiped out entirely, or was that just a dirty rumor? Tyr killed Helm - WHA?!!? If The Spirit Soaring is destroyed, does that mean Cadderly is dead? And more and more just brewing under the replies to those... Forgotten Realms Player's Guide - Finally, the PCs get to know what's going on in Faerun from something other than Drizzt's vague accusations about the death of Luskan and "the tumult of a world gone mad". This book really should have been released before "The Orc King".
Scepter Tower of Spellgard - In addition, we get the first module set in post-Spellplauge Faerun Adventurer's Vault Supplement - "hundreds of magic items, weapons, tools, and other useful items for your D&D character. Whether you're a player looking for a new piece of equipment or a Dungeon Master stocking a dragon's hoard...exactly what you need." Additional elements of 4e coming up: P1 - King of the Trollhaunt Warrens (Designed to take characters from 11th to 14th level) - October 21 Martial Power - November 18 ("provides new archetypal builds for the fighter, ranger, rogue, and warlord classes, including new character powers, feats, paragon paths, and epic destinies") - under 4e, these sort of "option" books are far more useful than they were under 3e, because of the focus on powers. Draconomicon I: Chromatic Dragons - November 18 (clearly, we need the rules on Dragons - "red, blue, green, black, and white dragons, as well as three completely new chromatic dragons" - I'm hoping for "Heliotrope", "Burnt Sienna", and "Gamboge") Manual of the Planes - December 16 P2 - Demon Queen's Enclave (Designed to take characters from 14th to 17th level) - December 16 Dungeon Delve - February 17 (no product description yet, but I expect it to read something like the 3.5e "Dungeoneering") Trackbacks
