It will make you love characters and then do horrible things to them.

I don't recall anything in Assassin's Apprentice that would call for an R rating. There are definitely adult themes
that will go way over kids' heads though. So it seems like a PG-13 to me. There is definitely a lot of violence, but
it is not particularly graphic in its depiction. At least as compared to a lot of what passes for popular fiction these
days.

I'm in complete agreement. I said as much two weeks ago, but the fact that Boise plays in the WAC will kill any
chances. TCU has a better chance than Boise. In fact if both teams were to go undefeated, I think TCU would once again
rank higher than Boise (TCU would be 3, just outside of the NC Game).

I don't believe Boise State will get a National Championship invite, even if they go undefeated. The polls are too
strongly influenced by men who believe BSU's schedule is too easy and they don't deserve an invite.

    Daboo,

I think you said that much better and more succinctly than I. I am under the impression that the producers think
referencing philosophers and other pieces of art is the same thing as exploring the themes found therein, or that the
inspiration of those works will be absorbed into their own work by association.

Lost is an example of creativity without inspiration. The authors were very creative in coming up with mind-f*** after
mind-f***, because that was their ENTIRE PURPOSE the whole time. Not to create a story with questions to be answered,
but to create something that would make us go, "WHAT!?!?!" every episode. And they were good at it.

However, what is missing is that crucial element of inspiration. No voices whispered to them, no dreams woke them up
with startling clarity, and so they never were able to make any significant connections.

If this were a novel the poor writers would have never been able to finish it. It would have been a great seed of an
idea without any ending. But luckily for them they got to make it into a TV show, and so it didn't matter. By the time
they realized they were never going to find the answers, it was too late for their sucker viewers.

I couldn't agree more - I was frustrated by this show more than I was entertained by it. However, The Mad Giggler had
convinced me in time that I should set myself up for disappointment in season 6. This allowed me to give up on being
satisfied and just enjoy it for what it was.

In the end, I walked away with the idea that none of the mysteries ever mattered to the writers - they were just hooks
to keep us coming back to get attached enough to the characters that the "finale" would be meaningful to us, so they
could deliver what I consider to be their ultimate point: the ups-and-downs of life aren't important, it's all about the
connections we make with each other.

Unsatisfactory, but I've come to expect nothing less from Hollywood in general.

I think the creators/producers came to work one day and realized they had created a story too big for them. One with
too many inconsistencies and too many side-stories to control and wrap up with any satisfaction to a true Lost fan.

And maybe they thought, who cares? People will stick with us to the end because our story compels them to.

I am one of those who felt compelled. And yet, I still look back on the story with some sort of fondness for some
descriptions you listed above (acting, music, relationships).
