Wednesday, February 20. 2008The War is Over.
Well today makes it official, the HD-DVD war is over.
Which promted the following conversation with Giggler. Sideshow:So great Blu-Ray has won the HD Format war. Now all Sony has to do, is convince the vast majority of consumers that it's worth: and MG: "Many believe that the new disc format will be leap-frogged " that's how I've felt for a while Heck my dad has an HD-TV, and I still can't recommend him buying a Blu-Ray player. Not even for the gaming console that comes with it. Saturday, February 2. 2008Indie Films: Primer
I just watched an interesting movie called Primer, via Netflix's streaming service. It was entertaining, if a bit muddled, and you have to
admire the fact that they made a great movie for only $7000.
Wednesday, January 9. 2008A Movie I'm Excited About
I really enjoyed Mark Millar's "Wanted" graphic novel/comics, so I was excited to see they made it into a movie, even if it does mean
another 3 hours of my life wasted staring at Angelina's ugly mug.
Here's a VERY brief description from Amazon - trust me, it doesn't do justice to the concept: What if everything in your life was out of your hands and those around you propelled your fate? Your girlfriend left you for your best friend; your boss gave your job to someone better. What if then, after all this, someone gave you back total control? What if he revealed you were the next in line to join a secret society of super-villians that controlled the entire planet? Mark Millar and J.G. Jones provide a look at one man who goes from being the world's biggest loser to the deadliest assassin alive. The most talked-about superhero series of the year is now collected in this stunning hardcover edition! Mark Millar examines what happens when absolute power does corrupt absolutely, and everyman Wesley Gibson inherits incredible powers. Tuesday, November 6. 2007The Last Mimzy
Is it just me, or did it seem to anyone else as if there were two different creative teams working on this movie? There
was the good one, who came up with the general concepts, and then the crappy one, who actually wrote the dialog and
dropped the ball on the pacing...
Also, the teacher's voice sounds eerily like the voice of Lady Deirdre Skye, the leader of the faction "Gaia's Stepdaughters" from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Monday, September 24. 2007New Anime
If you like anime, I suggest taking a look at Paprika, a new movie that should be available on DVD as of Tuesday, November 27, 2007.

When the Dark comes rising, Six shall turn it back Three from the Circle, Three from the track Wood, Bronze, Iron, Water, Fire, Stone; Five shall return and One go alone Iron for the birthday, Bronze carried long; Wood from the burning; Stone out of song; Fire from the candle-ring; Water from the thaw; Six Signs the Circle, and the grail gone before. Fire on the mountain shall find the harp of gold Played to wake the Sleepers -- Oldest of the Old; Power from the Green Witch Lost beneath the sea; All shall find the light at last! Silver on the Tree. Tuesday, March 20. 2007A Book and a Movie Recommendation
So I recently watched the movie The Prestige. I enjoyed it very
much. It's a nice little brain teaser. I decided to read the book.
The book is also a good read. Nothing heavy, but a nice quick read. But It's one of the few times when I actually liked both the book and the movie, and can say I liked the Movie better. Just figured I'd offer a recommendation since I never see any of you to mention it in person. Monday, November 27. 2006Comments (2) Trackbacks (0) As long as we're posting movie trailers...
If you haven't read Bridge to Terebithia, your life is a hollow, meaningless shell. If you have, you might enjoy
watching the trailer for the upcoming
movie.
Wednesday, November 22. 2006Wednesday, October 4. 2006Tuesday, November 29. 2005It's fantastic!
So, to any one who has bothered to take the time to listen to my psychobabble these past few weeks, you'll know that I
was very excited to see the movie, RENT. .
Man, it was spectacular. I think every one should go see it. Right now. A decidedly Bohemian theme, the story is an expression of love, with a message that happiness can exist even in the most terryfying, suburban hell. While I must say that the movie was not as good as I expect the on-stage play to be, it was still great. I bawled the first time I saw it, and cried the entire way through the second time. (A/N: This may be because I'm extremely hormonal at this time of the month, so, you know, don't really expect it to be terribly heart-rending.) So, Daboo, I'm definately taking you. With MG, if possible. As for the rest of you, go see it. Friday, November 18. 2005Comments (4) Trackbacks (0) I Wish They All Could Be Beaux-Baton Girls
"A rare film that does it all and never loses itself along the way. Successfully blends drama, action, comedy, romance,
and mystery to form an almost flawless movie."
-- Michelle Alexandria, ECLIPSE MAGAZINE "Goblet of Fire is indisputably the best movie in the franchise thus far." -- Eleanor Ringel Gillespie, ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION "[Newell] balances delicately between whimsy and the ominous, on the uncertain middle ground where Harry lives, poised between fun at school, teenage romance and the dark abyss." -- Roger Ebert, CHICAGO SUN-TIMES "Harry Potter's not just for kids anymore. Director Mike Newell has reset the bar for the series and delivered a smashingly dark and dramatic film" -- Laura Clifford, REELING REVIEWS "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire might be the best time you have at the movies all year." -- Matt Pais, CHICAGO TRIBUNE "It's scarier than the previous three movies and more poignant." -- Claudia Puig, USA TODAY "It's hard to resist." -- Peter Travers, ROLLING STONE "The greatest magic of this book - and this film - is that it doesn't pretend that growing up won't change everything. It's the first Potter film where reality and fantasy are equally fascinating." -- Nick Rogers, STATE JOURNAL-REGISTER (SPRINGFIELD, IL) "The best thing about the picture is Harry's new maturity: For the first time, he dominates a picture named for him." -- Lawrence Toppman, CHARLOTTE OBSERVER So Daboo and I want to go see the new Harry Potter flick tonight. Anybody else interested in joining us? Please leave a comment below. Friday, October 21. 2005Aslan Speaks
