I know several of you have expressed...lukewarm interest at best in revitalizing the Book Club. However, I am currently
about halfway through Neal Stephenson's
The Diamond Age: Or, a Young Lady's
Illustrated Primer, and I cannot find the words to express how much I'm enjoying it. The way it combines near-future
SciFi, socio-political issues, the monomyth, and children's fairytales into a cohesive structure is amazingly beautiful,
and his ability to keep all the content approachable while writing a deep narrative is rare. This absolutely goes on my
list of "Must Read" books, if just for the way he brings it all together, and I encourage you all to make time to read
it this holiday season.
At the same time, I came across an article which I suspect some of you will be interested in that was shockingly
relevant to the material in the book -- printing organs using the same technique as
"inkjet printers".
