Sunday, May 11. 2008Conflict needed
Johnny Elbows made a comment to me Friday that I thought was quite accurate. He said: "You know I think this has been
the most civil thread of comments that we have had in a long time", speaking about AoD's latest
rant. I then pointed out that he had missed most of the gentle jibes that Mad Giggler and I had engaged in. He
agreed and then left after we concluded our business. But his comment got me thinking: why don't we have more of those
types of discussions?

So this year I had to do my taxes by myself for the first time in about 6 years. Previously I had a friend who was an
accountant that enjoyed doing them and always offered. I indulged and appreciated his assistance. He moved to
Pennsylvania last year. Damn him and his promotions.

Thursday, April 17. 2008It's here, it's really here!!!
Well, I swore in my wrath against AoD, that I would only post on the weekends to screw with the blog statistics. But it
looks like I found one thing that would change my mind - In-N-Out Burger. I was listening
to the Nightside Project tonight and they had a story about the very first In-N-Out restaurant in Utah.
It has always been an item of myth and lore that In-N-Out was going to come to Utah. It is no hoax!! You can see it on their website. Soon they shall be here. testing V Chocolates referrer system Sunday, April 6. 2008Yeah, I hate Mitt too... ???
I was listening to the Nightside
Project on Friday night when they started talking about a website
where you could go and encourage John McCain to not make Mitt Romney his running mate.
This website is hilarious!!! Up until today, you could go in and sign up and encourage Senator McCain to avoid Mitt Romney. They were then posting all of the comments from those who had written something to the Senator. Well the vast majority (no numbers were actually counted, though as I perused them very few were anti-Mitt) of comments were people saying that they would only vote for McCain if Romney was on the ticket, or other such things like that. It was hilarious. The Nightside Project then decided to take it one step further: sabotage the data and have fun doing it (click on the Nightside link above to be able to hear that part of the segment). Apparently the comments were so bad that the site administrators decided to completely close off the comments section. And I quote: Because of insensitive and offensive posts public viewing of comments has been blocked. Click here for a complete explanation. Note: If you support Romney you should not be signing a petition against him in order to make pro-Romney statements. That is flat out dishonest. Classic Politics: If your smear campaign backfires, just blame the guy you were smearing! Saturday, April 5. 2008Fajitas, Zonya style
I was watching tv one Saturday about a month or so ago when I came across a show on the local PBS station that looked
interesting: Zonya's Health Bites. I'll admit
that I was just in a mood to not do anything that day because normally I would not have watched that show. Frankly I
think Zonya is a total nut. But her message of healthy eating and exercise is fantastic.
Part of the episode that day was to show how to cook healthy Crock Pot Fajitas. As I watched her cook that recipe, I was struck by two things: 1. that the food looked really good, and 2. it was easy enough that I could do it! So I decided to make the attempt. This post shall be my review of this recipe on a few criterion. Though it is a little long, I hope you enjoy it. So I was on my way to work on Friday when a report from the radio caught my attention. The report was about a website called Trapster. The way this site works is that members report various places where they know a speed
trap is happening by the police.
By signing up you can get Trapster on your cell phone, add it to your Google MyMaps, or just check their website to see local speed traps in your area. It is also free to sign up as far as i can tell. I'm not sure it would be of much use to me, but perhaps those of you who like to speed might find it of value. Sunday, March 30. 2008Book versus Movie... Movie wins!
So if you guys remember back a few weeks ago I requested some book ideas as I wanted to start a new book which sparked
the
best argument over a comment thread that this blog has ever seen. AoD made a joke using some material from the
Princess Bride. It sparked a recommendation that someone had once given me, so I decided to go with it.
Big Mistake!Continue reading "Book versus Movie... Movie wins!"Sunday, March 23. 2008Aggresive Pizza Tipping
I have been a casual listener of the Nightside Project
on KSL radio for about a year or so. Originally it used to be hosted by some high priced radio personality from LA
(though he was originally raised here in Utah). Now it is hosted by Ethan Millard and Alex Kirry. I had been listening
to the radio program for a while when I went to an engagement party for my friends Melanie and Skyler. At that party I was talking to
Melanie's brother Alex and commented that he shared the exact name of a favorite radio host of mine. He paused and
looked at me with an odd expression and said, "yeah, that's me."
I was a little surprised and ashamed (mainly because I used to call him Zach when he lived with Melanie - yeah my memory of names just stinks). But he was affable enough to put me at ease. Anyway, during their radio show, they have a segment called "Who asked you?" During that segment anyone can call up and get 15 seconds of free air time to say whatever they want. If it is interesting/funny/intelligent/thought-provoking then you get another 15 seconds. If not then you get cut off after your 15 seconds. Sometimes it is insightful, other times it is ridiculous, most of the time it is entertaining. This last friday night as I was driving from the racquetball court to Ming's Garden for dinner I got to hear that segment. One of the callers chose to spend his time rebuking poor pizza delivery tipping. After his time was finished the hosts of the show pointed out that the Nightside Project advocated the aggressive tipping of pizza delivery men. Give it a listen as I found it quite funny. Unfortunately you will have to listen to half of the segment before you get to it, but I think it is worth the time and the entire segment is only 8 min or so. And if you enjoy that, then I highly suggest listening to the radio show on a regular basis (KSL 1160AM and 102.7FM). Sunday, March 16. 2008Comments (10) Trackbacks (0) So there's this new band...
So I was driving home Friday from having played AoD and Captain Jack racquetball when I noticed a sign on the freeway
announcing a 3-d music show featuring some new band I had never heard
of at the Hansen Planetarium. But it looked interesting and the colors were very vivid, so it peaked my interest.
It looks like music some of you might be interested in. So here is a link to take a look at it. If any of you are interested, I would love to go to this with you. Here is a link to see what it is all about. Let me know your enthusiasm for making this a group activity. Sunday, February 24. 2008You've got to be kidding me!!!
I was watching the news one morning this week and they were doing a brief overview of the bills being discussed during
the legislative term when they mentioned SB
183. I was to say, more than a little shocked about the bill. This bill would make it a crime to
view child pornography (for the remainder of this post to be known as CP as I don't want to be
responsible for getting people to this blog by that search).

Sunday, February 24. 2008Books I should read
I recently finished reading The
Courts of Chaos by Roger Zelazny which was the final book in the Chronicles of Amber series. It was mostly
enjoyable though it seemed unnecessarily verbose in a few spots (come on Roger you are no Tolkien). I would recommend
it to those that enjoy Fantasy.
But I am now in a position to not have any bed-time reading material. I would love it if you guys could give me a few options* that you enjoy. Otherwise I am going to have to read Enders Game again. *Radar is under no obligation to actually read any of the books that are recommended. Sunday, February 24. 2008The face of Christianity
So I was cruising the internet this last week (I hate surfing) looking for a torrent to one of my new favorite shows The Unit and I noticed an ad on of the sites that I
found quite fascinating. It was an ad for a Christian Single site.
It just seemed to me that this ad had seemed a little racy for my brand of Christianity. What do you guys think? (see the ad by following the link below:) Continue reading "The face of Christianity" Sunday, February 24. 2008Aw Nuts!
I recently watched a report on the news regarding the types of food that people should be eating at certain ages in
their life. I was personally struck by the fact that I am not eating well at all for any age! I decided that I needed
to try and do something about it.
So I decided, based on recommendations by the reporter, that I should begin including vegetables and nuts to my diet. This is not an easily made decision since I grew up on a farm where we raised walnuts and almonds. I hate walnuts and don't really enjoy almonds. I do like some nuts and so I purchased pistachios and cashews. According to the report nuts help to reduce the risk of heart disease. I'm not sure about this because when I saw the price for just a pound of each type of nut my blood pressure hit the roof. Pistachios cost me $6 to purchase a pound (and that includes the weight of the shell), and the cashews also cost me $6 (thankfully pre-shelled). Maybe it will be worth the price. Can anybody recommend any other types of nuts that are healthy, and preferably cheap? Sunday, February 17. 2008Comment (1) Trackbacks (0) Snowshoeing - the second expedition
So this weekend I went on my second snowshoeing trip of 2008. We decided to head up to Emigration Canyon and hiked
around on Little Mountain. It was not by any means a scenic area, but it was fun to tromp around through the snow with
friends. Sorry, no moose were seen on this trip. Special thanks to Emily Hodson for letting me borrow her snowshoes
and her dad's snow pants; Emily Utt for the use of her gators and planning the trip.
I have put together a gallery of some of the pictures we took during the day. You can see them here. But here are a couple I thought were worth posting here: Continue reading "Snowshoeing - the second expedition" Sunday, February 17. 2008The best smelling gloves ever
As all of you probably know, I love soccer. I love playing, watching, and talking soccer. I recently had a soccer game
and due to limited players, was forced to play as our goalkeeper. Luckily my friend Jeff was there and I was able to borrow his gloves. I had them on for a good 45 minutes.
They worked great and I was able to have a shutout and so our team won. When I finally pulled the gloves off I instinctively smelled my hands to see how bad they were. I was pleasantly surprised. Any of you who have ever stood near a goalie can tell you that a keepers gloves are one of the foulest smelling things in the world. Jeff's gloves smelled great. I don't know what he did to keep them smelling so well, but I am extremely grateful. It was to say the least, a breath of fresh air! Here are what the aforementioned gloves looked like in case you want to buy very your own non-foul-smelling-soccer-gloves.
