During a discussion regarding "Personal Information Managers", wherein I tried to understand how they differ from "Email
client", the following was delivered at the end of a long string of argumentative metaphors:
< TML> For example, I've already had ElizabethN give one concrete thing I will look around for: due dates. < spoon> dont bother < spoon> you wont like a pim < spoon> they go against your moral inner fiber < spoon> they do everything you stand against < spoon> they are counter productive for you < TML> spoon: What makes you say that? < spoon> you just seem like that type of person < TML> I don't have any kind of "moral stand" regarding PIMs. < spoon> im making a character judgement < spoon> because you rock at being annoying argumentative and giving good responses < spoon> you know how to debate < spoon> and it makes me dislike you becuase i cant Hmm.... I hadn't seen this joke in a while, but came across it again when I was reading on Raganwald about "Green Shift". Anyway, that's just a lead-up to the following joke:
In the beginning was the Plan. And then came the Assumptions. And the Assumptions were without form. And the Plan was without substance. And darkness was upon the face of the Workers. And they spoke among themselves, saying, "It is a crock of crap, and it stinkith" And the Workers went unto their Supervisors and said, "It is a pail of dung, and we cannot abide the smell." And the Supervisors went unto their Managers, saying "It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it." And the Managers went unto their Directors, saying, "It is a vessel of fertilizer and none may abide its strength." And the Directors spoke among themselves, saying to one another, "It contains that which aids plant growth, and it is very strong." And the Directors went to the Vice Presidents, saying unto them, "It promotes growth, and it is very powerful." And the Vice Presidents went to the President, saying unto him, "This new plan will actively promote the growth and vigor of the company with powerful effects" And the President looked upon the Plan and saw that it was good. And the Plan became Policy. And that, my friends, is how crap happens. Thursday, April 24. 2008Comments (5) Trackbacks (0) WTF is that Favicon?

Some idiot on the internets is telling everyone that copyright law is changing, and that it will affect every
"programmer, artist, photographer and designer". Read the debunking here.
Buried in that article is a pretty neat service, GovTrak, where you can subscribe to RSS feeds that discuss upcoming Congressional actions about topics you're interested in, such as The Internet or Intellectual Property. You can even follow a particular Congressman's voting record. Thursday, April 10. 2008Comments (6) Trackbacks (0) Mafia / Werewolf

We have been tossing about some ideas for changes to the blog - one of the things that has come up is upgrading/changing
our gallery software.
I got some space on a server the other day where we can poke at some of the existing solutions out there - either to choose one, or just to take notes about features we dis/like, I don't particularly care because I'm not the "target customer" for galleries. If you're interested in taking a look, let me know and I'll communicate out-of-band with you to pass on the URL and gallery administration stuff. I really enjoyed this
article in Wired about a guy trying to break the "Cannonball Run" record: New York to Los Angeles in less than 32h,
17m.

So I was on my way to work on Friday when a report from the radio caught my attention. The report was about a website called Trapster. The way this site works is that members report various places where they know a speed
trap is happening by the police.
By signing up you can get Trapster on your cell phone, add it to your Google MyMaps, or just check their website to see local speed traps in your area. It is also free to sign up as far as i can tell. I'm not sure it would be of much use to me, but perhaps those of you who like to speed might find it of value. Thursday, April 3. 2008
