During a discussion regarding "Personal Information Managers", wherein I tried to understand how they differ from "Email
client", the following was delivered at the end of a long string of argumentative metaphors:
< TML> For example, I've already had ElizabethN give one concrete thing I will look around for: due dates. < spoon> dont bother < spoon> you wont like a pim < spoon> they go against your moral inner fiber < spoon> they do everything you stand against < spoon> they are counter productive for you < TML> spoon: What makes you say that? < spoon> you just seem like that type of person < TML> I don't have any kind of "moral stand" regarding PIMs. < spoon> im making a character judgement < spoon> because you rock at being annoying argumentative and giving good responses < spoon> you know how to debate < spoon> and it makes me dislike you becuase i cant Hmm.... Sunday, April 27. 2008Crap Happens
I hadn't seen this joke in a while, but came across it again when I was reading on Raganwald about "Green Shift". Anyway, that's just a lead-up to the following joke:
In the beginning was the Plan. And then came the Assumptions. And the Assumptions were without form. And the Plan was without substance. And darkness was upon the face of the Workers. And they spoke among themselves, saying, "It is a crock of crap, and it stinkith" And the Workers went unto their Supervisors and said, "It is a pail of dung, and we cannot abide the smell." And the Supervisors went unto their Managers, saying "It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it." And the Managers went unto their Directors, saying, "It is a vessel of fertilizer and none may abide its strength." And the Directors spoke among themselves, saying to one another, "It contains that which aids plant growth, and it is very strong." And the Directors went to the Vice Presidents, saying unto them, "It promotes growth, and it is very powerful." And the Vice Presidents went to the President, saying unto him, "This new plan will actively promote the growth and vigor of the company with powerful effects" And the President looked upon the Plan and saw that it was good. And the Plan became Policy. And that, my friends, is how crap happens. Thursday, April 24. 2008Comments (5) Trackbacks (0) WTF is that Favicon?

I've been using Jack Sparrow long before it was so common. Used it on Unreal, used it as one of my computer profiles...
unfortunately, it hasn't worked now for some time. And by "worked" I mean it's too common, too mainstream,
too...unimaginative. I need something new. And since, by definition, a nickname should not be given by oneself, but by
others, I am asking you, the famed or infamed homestarmy to assist in the search (should you be so inclined.) But I have
a few pre-requisites...

Tuesday, April 22. 2008More About D&D
It's official. We're shooting for a Forgotten Realms setting. I have come into possession of the FR books. For
whatever reason, the "supplier" has asked that I keep it on the down low. I'm assuming that with my LG status, I just
don't want to know. My supplier did ask that I pass on the following:
Supplier: From page 28: A character in the F.R. campaign is more than just a class and race. Your homeland determines...what sort of abilities you have. In game terms, character regions...allow you to learn special feats...and enable you to start out with some extra equipment based on the way people in that region live. Me: huh Supplier: So I thought you should quietly circulate that link and have people review the book to see what region they want to come from, as it might change what race/class/feats/equipment they choose. So, there you go. Email me for more info. Tuesday, April 22. 2008Comments (14) Trackbacks (0) Updates from the World of Whedon
It's been awhile since we've heard anything from the Whedonverse. But here are a few tidbits, on what seems to be a
very Whedon-filled near future.

Monday, April 21. 2008D&D Stat Rolling
So, I've now talked with Daboo and Radar about this, and I wanted to kind of put this out there for everyone else.
Normally when generating stats for a character, you'd roll 4d6 and subtract the lowest roll, repeating this for a total
of six times. While this adds to the dice rolling fun, you don't always get a character with stats that match the
role-playing aspects you'd envisioned.
I humbly submit an alternative. In both Neverwinter Nights 2 and Icewind Dale 2 the developers use the 3.5 ruleset as part of their game engine and they've made a change to character creation that I really like. Basically, you start out with all 10s. Racial modifiers are then applied, most likely giving you a 12 and an 8 somewhere. Then you have a certain amount of points to increase your stats. The more points you put into a specific category, the more points it costs to increase that stat. If this kind of system interests you and you don't have access to one of those two games, feel free to finish up your character creation at the beginning of our first session. Also, if you have strong feelings against this method, please indicate that in the comments with an explanation for why you think it's a bad idea. Update. I noticed this in the PHB 4e Lite, "Use the 28 point‐buy system from 3.5E, DMG page 169." I'll try to verify if this is the same at lunch. Update #2. Confirmed. ...so I'm just going to throw it out there.
I am without manhood. Radar has stripped it from me, and laid bare all my faults and weaknesses. I am AoD's abiding shame. Friday, April 18. 2008Comment (1) Trackbacks (0) Why do you hate me so?

Friday, April 18. 2008Ten Word Stories
Details at penny-arcade.com (warning: lots of vulgarity to be found there).
Mine Got nerfed, rolled an alt, got nerfed again, emoted displeasure. Reported for foul language, argued with GM, lost my shoes. Gnome bit my ankle, but an undead patched it up. Feared by warlock, stunned by rogue, capped flag. I stealthed into the flag room only to be ice-trapped. "My ankle is bleeding!" he cried, glaring at the gnome. "Those are mine," he sneered, accompanied by his hulking infernal. "Cute couple. Her beautiful tusks match his cold, undead skin." For sale: shiny paladin armor, slightly coated in murloc slime. Some from Daboo: This village was the most beautiful refuge, before Arthas came. He writhed in her icy grip. "Just kidding! Undead rock!" For sale: Hunter pet, velociraptor, very sharp teeth. Slightly disloyal. "Oops," he thought frantically, "Tauren don't appreciate Troll love songs!" Thursday, April 17. 2008It's here, it's really here!!!
Well, I swore in my wrath against AoD, that I would only post on the weekends to screw with the blog statistics. But it
looks like I found one thing that would change my mind - In-N-Out Burger. I was listening
to the Nightside Project tonight and they had a story about the very first In-N-Out restaurant in Utah.
It has always been an item of myth and lore that In-N-Out was going to come to Utah. It is no hoax!! You can see it on their website. Soon they shall be here. testing V Chocolates referrer system
